The lid comes off

Just a quick pic showing the case lid removed, and everything powered up too. The foam is now cut by the way, and velcro glue all set, once the cupboard under the stairs has a tidy, I should be brave enough to store it up-right. I copied a decent set of breaks, fx, builds, hits, vocals to the MPC and started on the custom programs needed for the Spin Doctor. Figured out a few tricks with the Pioneer also, it has limited fx but many ways to deploy and control them live. The MIDI bpm detect and sync works also. I did mess up measuring the headphone monitor gap but have since ordered a right angle jack to deal with that.

Awesome - I let the guys at diago know about RIG-1 and they posted it on their wall. If you're a guitarist or not worth checking out their gear:

RIG-1 Assembled

Well, I've got some work to do on cable tidy and foam, but this is pretty much it...! It's come a long way, heavier than intended, and cost more than planned, but I'm pleased with it :) Now, to finish off the tidy bits, start learning how to "play" it, and to enjoy it.

Foam party

Ok, not the most exciting picture in the world, but an important stage none the less. I wanted reassurance that when the coffin was closed that everything would stay in place as it will be stored upright. The velcro handles this for the gear with a flat underside but some of the gear with feet needed something more to press down on it, to hold it in place, and slicing up a bit of foam should do the job..hopefully!

Does it fit?

Well, yeah - just about! With a bit of wiggle room. The next challenge..fixtures. Velcro works great for some of the gear, but some bits have feet that dont come off, and ventilation underneath, oversight on my part. Anyway, there are a few solutions to that. Also going to get some thick foam so when the lid is closed it helps keep everything in place. One step closer.

Tourman arrives

Phew, picked up the tourman today (cheers Jord, Ad and Mo). Man, its heavy and thats without any gear inside! Got some extra strength velcro at the ready..feeling a bit rough this afternoon hoping to perk up to start laying gear out tonight having been a bit quiet on the project for a week or two.

On the case

Quick update on the case, only a week before I get my hands on it. Then its down to adding decent velcro and squeezing everything into place. Meanwhile had a play with fx send on the mixer and need to settle on a typical audio signal path for live performance, also need to stack the MPC memory with a sample library or two, and design a general map preset for Spin Doctor to EMX...speaking of EMX need to start saving some instruments and bare bone patterns. Stuff todo then!
